
All 11 competitions of the Jarun Cup 2026 were played on the second day of the five-day event, with the IHF Beach Handball Global Tour opening stage taking place on the same courts in unusually chilly conditions on Lake Jarun.
In total, 78 games were played across six courts with the senior men’s title-holders, Portuguese side GRD Leca – Spar getting their title defence underway with two wins out of two.
They were made to work for it in their opening preliminary group game against Torreon Benalmadena, winning a monster shoot-out 20:18 to take a 2-1 (25:22, 20:21, SO 20:18) victory. In their later game it was a more comfortable victory as they saw off Beach Handball Tilburg.
Danish side HEI Beachhandball, who were beaten men’s finalists, lost their opener against Club Balonmano Playa Algeciras 1-2 (32:20, 20:23, SO 2:8) but bounced back in another high-scoring game, seeing off local side BHC Harena 2 2-0 (30:22, 30:20).
In the women’s competition, Multichem Szentendrei NKE are not in Zagreb to defend their title but the team they beat in the final, KRAS Volendam, took home two victories, beating BHC Stockholm Pink Panthers 2-0 (20:8, 19:12) and a forfeited 2-0 (10:0, 10:0) victory over Beach Handball Tilburg.
